Film – The Photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher

Last week I visited the gallery Ostlicht in Vienna to be part of the Austrian film premiere of „The Photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher“, a 94 minute long film by Marianne Kapfer.

During my photography study I of course heard a lot about the „Düsseldorfer Fotoschule“. Bernd and Hilla Becher are known for photographing industrial archetypes and they taught photography at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Former students of Bernd Becher include Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth, Candida Höfer, Elger Esser, etc.

The movie was impressive and it was nice to get the chance to meet Hilla Becher.
